Bringing Mindfulness and Wisdom to Changes and Transitions

Throughout your adult life, you must navigate a number of major changes and transitions. How skillfully you respond during these key times greatly effects your well-being and peace of mind. Indeed, opening to the possiblity of change is essential to your psychological and spiritual development. However, most people are unclear about how to skillfully make changes in their lives. All change is fraught with concerns, fears, and quiestions, such as, how do I know if making this change will make me happy? Is it meaningful? How can I stay true to myself during this transition? The Buddha's teachings of mindfulness (sati) and wisdom (panna) can provide you with essential  tools for coping with the uncertainty and difficulties that arise during transitional times.

The retreat will be structured like a seminar and will include periods of meditation and reflection. There will also be many opportunities for questions.

This retreat will meet in the Hemlock Room at Bastyr University. Each day begins at 9:00am and ends at 4:30pm. Refrigeration is available for bag lunches or you may purchase lunch at the Bastyr cafeteria. Please bring your own tea mug; tea is provided. Each day of this retreat begins at 9:00am and ends at 4:30pm.

Volunteering: SIMS needs 10-15 volunteers to help at each event. If you are planning to attend and would like to help (with set up, clean up, tea service, sound system etc.) please see below.
